I, Benjamin R. Tillman, am a man of many great qualities. I am a Democrat, a farmer, but most importantly a white man. I served as Governor of South Carolina from 1890-1894 and am now currently serving as a U.S. Senator from the great state of South Carolina.

I come to this debate today with my mind made up that the Philippines should not be annexed by our United States of America. Why is this you may ask? If the United States were to annex the Philippines the barbarians of color who are currently living there would be granted US citizenship. This would cause an influx of colored immigrants to our Country. This country is already up in arms with the question of color when due to the adolescent law of freeing the black man. How can we even bear the question of annexation in our minds when we are having so much trouble with the subject matter in our country already. We cannot risk the contamination of our pure Anglo-Saxon blood.

I cannot bear to think of the idea of a racially un-pure America. While I do wish for America to succeed globally, but I don't want to put our racially pure blood at risk. Some may think of me as hot-headed for these words, but am I not factually incorrect? I solely am interested in this topic based upon the obvious tainting of the waters of America if annexation were to succeed.
